April 2013 is 1Gas’ most successful month so far – we’ve achieved our highest profit in a single month yet. The previous best month has been toppled by more than 20%. In the midst of a slow economic recovery, we’re very pleased with the results. The graph below shows our steady growth in profit since summer 2011.
Our brand new 1Gas animation video was launched today and we think it’s brilliant. It’s an advert that is now live on our website and also on YouTube. At just over a minute long, it was created to promote the gas connection services 1Gas have to offer, and the benefits we can provide. The video has been kept clean and simple to understand, with a slightly humorous tone, which we hope reflects the helpful customer service and friendly staff we aim to provide at all times. British Gas In 1973, the British Gas Corporation was formed and in 1986, the government privatised the company. Its shares were subsequently floated on the UK stock exchange in London. In 1997 British Gas Plc formed part of the BG Group and became a subsidiary of the Centrica group of companies. Centrica has also owned many other famous brands including the AA, Goldfish and Halfords. British Gas is widely recognised as the UK’s largest supplier of gas and electricity. Since day one, customer service has been key to the success of 1Gas. It’s a cliché, but it’s true. We haven’t always got it right, and where we’ve been less than perfect we’ve learnt from it. We believe that customer service should be every part of a company’s existence and in every communication with colleagues, customers, suppliers or engineers. We strive to be a friendly, personal company that will go beyond the call of duty for customers wherever possible. In 2012, we received 19 testimonials which are on this website. In 2013 in the first 3-4 months we’ve already had 33 additional testimonials. We’ve just crossed the 50 barrier today (52 to be exact) and we’re really pleased with this result. In this situation, we argue that words speak louder than actions thanks to the many kind customers who have spent the time speaking their opinion of us. A culmination of factors is creating problems for Britain’s household debt levels to electricity and gas suppliers. It’s recently been estimated that money owed to energy companies by domestic consumers could total more than 600 million pounds, with perhaps as many as four to five million owing a balance [an increase of around 6% from last year] and struggling to keep on top of bills. The amount owed has increased by around 25% on the previous year.

In the past year alone, staff numbers have risen four fold, new customer enquiries are up 1500% and order volumes have increased by 500%. To help us achieve this, we have continually been investing in our website and a great customer experience. It’s worked, and we’ve experienced a huge surge in customers visiting our site, mainly from Google. This spike in visits is thanks to advertising and investment. For the last 30 day period (12th March – 11th April 2013) we’ve seen an 800% increase in website visitors over the same period from 2 years ago in 2011. The future looks bright at 1Gas and we’re growing day by day. We’re excited about new services and marketing initiatives in the near future.
