1Gas was launched by Richard Hearne in February 2010. Since then we’ve enjoyed continued growth and success. Last year in 2012, our team trebled in size and we want to tell you a little bit more about who we are.

Richard Hearne
Director of 1Gas, Richard comes from a background of customer service and utilities. His career started in 2000 working for AXA Insurance in his hometown of Lancaster, Lancashire. A year later after moving to Manchester, Richard worked for a number of high profile companies. These included British Gas (Centrica), Shell, BBGR (part of Essilor, the world’s largest optical company),  Apple, Cable & Wireless, and Gazprom (the world’s largest gas company). In February 2010, Richard formed 1Gas in an effort to offer better service and more competion in the gas connection and meters market.

Derry Mulloy
Derry joined 1Gas in June 2012. Derry has qualifications in Personal Finance, Business and Finance and Business Studies. Derry is a keen sports fan and enjoys playing pool, listening to music, and five a side football.  His previous experience includes work in the building trade and decoration. Derry previously worked for Brighton and Hove City Council.

Our Growth
We are a fast growing company. Our order staff numbers increased by 200% in 2012. Our order volumes increased over 600% in 2012 compared with 2011. The graph below shows our order volumes for the last three calendar years and 2012 is clearly our best year yet. We will soon be turning over half a million pounds a year. We hope 2013 will be an even better year.
